O Indiewire, através da sua rede de críticos pelo mundo fora (Rede Criticwire), elaborou a sua lista dos 30 Melhores Filmes Estrangeiros 2014. Entre as sugestões do popular Indiewire está o filme, de Manoel de Oliveira, Gebo and the Shadow (O Gebo e a Sombra).
Na sua seleção, o Criticwire seguiu três critérios. O filme ter dez ou mais críticas, manter uma nota média de B+ ou superior, e a língua do filme ser outra que não o inglês.
