Vencedores dos Independent Spirit Awards | Vidas Passadas triunfa em noite polémica cheia de surpresas
Estes foram os vencedores da cerimónia dos Film Independent Spirit Awards.
Desde 1984 que a cerimónia do Film Independent Spirit Awards tão característica da Award Season é levada a cabo e pretende distinguir o melhor da cena independente. Este ano, houve espaço para algumas inclusões para filmes menos cotados da temporada como “A Thousand and One” ou “Theater Camp” e para os grandes candidatos como “Past Lives”, “May December” e “American Fiction”, que lideram as nomeações com cinco menções cada.
A noite foi marcada por uma grande celebração ao cinema independente, dando o espaço necessário e equalitário a qualquer vencedor para fazer o seu discurso. Nem por isso, tal prejudicou o ritmo do evento, que durou apenas duas horas sem parecer apressado ou desinteressado em alguma categoria dita “menor”.
Como anfitriã da festa, a comediante Aidy Bryant soube divertir a audiência com momentos de humor bem pensados e que não se arrastaram demasiado. Destaca-se também como a atriz não precisou de denegrir nenhum dos projetos nomeados nem recorrer aos clichés de “ninguém viu estes filmes” ou “são muito longos” para colocar a tenda (sim, a cerimónia decorreu numa tenda!) inteira a rir.
O evento em que “Past Lives” levou o prémio principal e a realizadora Celine Song venceu na sua categoria foi ainda marcado por fortes protestos em que se ouvia “Free Palestine”. O motivo dos protestos não foi entendido por muito do público presente, porém ao vencer o prémio John Cassavetes o realizador iraniano Babak Jalali (“Fremont”) mostrou-se inspirado pelo ocorrido “O quer que seja que eles estão a dizer é muito mais importante do que eu vou dizer”.
